Geographical perspectives on sustainable development: Networking local area partnerships with teachers and young scientists

Welcome to the Home Page for our exciting project.

The materials included in this web site relate to an innovative new project aimed at developing teaching and learning materials related to sustainable development issues in developing countries. Started in 2005 we hope our materials will help to engage teachers and young scientists in Science projects aimed at contemporary sustainable development issues; notably biodiversity, forestry and water resources.

Working from the principle that sustained outcomes are linked with community ownership, this project has relied on negotiation and ommunity partnerships.

The nine countries engaged with the 2005 project are: Thailand, China, India, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Portugal, South Africa and Georgia. Each country has its own home page and project director.

Although the team members are currently sharing their work in English it is planned to translate the final outputs into local languages.

We hope you find the materials useful and welcome comment and suggestions.
